4. List of commands and explanations

MSM will accept commands received from Reporting Phone only. All the commands should start with “msm”. For example if user wants to hang the stolen phone using sms command he has to send sms “msm hang” from the reporting phone to the stolen device. It is best to assume if you had left your cell phone behind in a cinema, restaurant and so on that it is indeed already gone by the time you remember to run back and get it. As we all know most people are not keen on returning valued goods they pick up! And be assured the person who picked up your mobile will without any doubt go through all your data, contacts, images, videos and sms! It does not matter who you are: corporate client with VERY important business info which may fall into the wrong hands or everyday client with VERY important family contacts, banking details and much more… It is then safe to say that one has to insert the commands in the following order should your mobile get lost or stolen.

1. msm activate:

Activates theft/stolen mode without changed SIM card. ( when device is lost ) Encrypts phone book, messages, images, video clips. Starts reporting all the activities on the stolen phone, like calls made and received & SMS sent and received. This is reported to the Report Phone via sms.

NB: In most cases when your mobile device gets stolen the thief will immediately change the sim card and MSM will start sending out reports automatically to the Report Phone as the stolen phone does not recognize the new sim card inserted. So you do not need to send the command “msm activate” It is obvious once your mobile got stolen and you do not receive any reports within a few minutes that it means the thief is not planning to change the sim card and that you have to send “msm activate” to the device.

2. msm contact=all:

Sends all the contacts stored in the phone book of stolen/lost phone to the Reporting Phone!

3. msm emailon:

Starts reporting to your email address you registered at installation/setup of all the activities like calls made and received, SMS sent and received, new contacts added to your stolen device.

4. msm hang:

Plays loud siren, disables the phone completely, displays predefined message: lost/stolen phone” and your name and contact number and reward offered for return. Even if the thief removes and replaces the battery the siren and “lost/stolen” phone message starts again.

5. msm unlock:

This command is only necessary if the rightful owner the assistance of authorities like SAPD tracked the thief via the reports given to apprehend the suspect. This command unlocks the keypad so the password defined by user (default “ajt”) may be inserted. This will stop the siren and bring the phone back to normal mode.

6. msm track:

This command can be used for “Parental Control” Starts reporting of all the activities like calls made, received, SMS sent/received, New contacts Added. Does NOT decrypt data on device. One does not have to enter “mms activate” beforehand. “msm track” can be given as is. But after you gave “mms track” command you may also enter “mms location” to get location report. To end TRACK feature simply send sms command “msm deactivate” to device.

7. msm contact=individualcontact:

Sends particular contact stored in the Phone book of Stolen/lost phone.

8. msm location:

Sends IMEI, IMSI, Area code, Cell ID, Operator Name, Country code. Encrypts data and reports location! One has to first send “mms activate” followed by “mms location” to receive location report.

9. msm deactivate:

Deactivates sms commands “track”.

10. msm delete=all:

Wipes all data from the stolen device permanently.

Preview Attack

Please note: This feature is only available for Symbian OS phones. Preview attack will demonstrate the way the phone will behave in hang mode without hanging the device. This option is available in the options menu. To stop the preview siren, simply type in your password. (or “ajt” if you haven’t changed the default password yet.)
