(with the advancement in technology the paper is replaced with digital data on a computer) it is a Forensic Psychophysiological test.What is Forensic Psychophysiology?Forensic - means it is scientific and can be used at the CCMA or court as expert evidence.Psycho - That which affects the workings of the human mind. Physiology - That which affects the workings of the human body. PDDPsychophysiological Detection of Deception (PDD) is the process of determining if a person is attempting to deceive or being truthful to an issue under investigation. Unconscious conflicts between your ID and Superego cause inner tension. The fear of detection of deception (lying) will cause changes in the body, at or near the point in time of the deception. A trained Polygraph Examiner can diagnose these changes.The polygraph is capable of revealing additional investigation leads, statements of examinees can be accurately verified or discredited, aids in obtaining truthful statements and it aids in locating hidden evidence. The polygraph is used for pre-employment screening, periodic / ad hoc testing, criminal and civil investigations, matrimonial disputes, guilty knowledge tests as well as counterintelligence testing. Polygraph is admissible in court, depending on the circumstances. It has to be used in conjunction with supporting evidence. The CCMA also uses it extensively and successfully. You cannot force someone to undergo a polygraph test. They must volunteer and also sign a consent form prior to be tested. But if you have nothing to hide, then there is no harm doing the test. Everything in the test is 100% confidential. Only the information that concerns the matter at hand gets reported. Our tests are digitally video recorded and all test charts / questions / information and video is backed up to CD and kept indefinitely. The average accuracy range was found to be in the region of 90-98% The polygraph is NOT a lie detector! It is a scientific diagnostic instrument. |
